We are Shelton locals and have been coming to Matto for years. I can’t speak more highly of our experience. We come 2-5 times a month, we get all our catering from here. It’s become our comfort food home away from home. Jess, their manager, is absolutely their best employee. She has become part of the family. When we ordered catering for Christmas Eve Jess came in on her day off just to make sure our order was perfect. She went above and beyond. They’ve had some turn over the last 5 years, but she’s been the staple that keeps us coming back. Alejandra who works front of house is always our preferred server. She knows what we want before we even sit down at the table. Sam and Amanda tends bar and makes a perfect martini. Even my wife who is typically never happy with a new cocktail trusts only Sam and Amanda to make her drinks. I’m glad the owners recognize their key players because it makes a difference. We spent a long time auditioning Italian restaurants throughout southern Connecticut. And Matto is the only one we’ve been excited to return time and time again.
The food here was impeccable. The lamb chops were rich in flavor, seasoned well and cooked just right. The meat was practically falling off the bone. The Brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy with just enough honey on that it wasn’t overly sweet. We also tired and enjoyed the lobster Mac and cheese appetizer and more. Alejandra provided wonderful customer service and recommended delicious options. The cocktail was deliciously made. I enjoyed the restaurant atmosphere with the beautiful decor, seating and large plants. Overall a wonderful restaurant that I recommend to anyone searching for exceptional dishes. I can’t wait to return to Matto Wine Bar in the future.

I’ve been coming to Matto for about a year now and I have nothing but great things to say. The food and drinks are awesome! The service has always been the reason I come back. I frequent the days Amanda is on bar and Jessica the manager is in the building. They both are always making sure everyone has the best experience. The food is always on point. I’ve noticed a change in specials and flavors more recently, so shout out to the chefs. If you want to have a great time, come to Matto!
Could not tell you what was better - everything we ate was better than the last. The pizza (even GF) was so delicious. The pesto sauce was creamy and filled with flavor. The spice of the hot oil on the pizza was the perfect type of heat. Cocktails were so unique but great. Also considering how much food you get and the quality - really moderately priced. Only regret I had no room for dessert but can’t wait to come back!
Expansive menu with many offerings. Gluten free pizza is good, not good for gluten free, it’s actually good! I love ordering tapas and trying the many offerings. I decided to try the Chicken Francese, which was good but not great. Felt it lacked capers and mushrooms to even out the lemon flavor.
